Students gathered in the campus mall Tuesday night to enjoy Tom Green, popcorn, pop and the cool breeze at the Student Government Association's first movie night of the year.

Approximately 25 students were in attendance at the event, which was of no expense to them. Those present voted to watch the movie "Road Trip" over another movie, "Showtime".

SGA spent $1,700 to contract the Smith Agency so that students could enjoy the theater feeling of watching a movie, complete with a big screen and loud speakers, while still spending a night under the stars.

"We just wanted something late at night for the students to take advantage of," Ryan Ruda, SGA co-sponsor, said.

This is the first movie night SGA has hosted since Ruda has been involved with the organization and he hopes the students enjoyed the event.

SGA had hoped for a larger turnout, but believes that the event went over well.

"On first time deals like that, as long as you get anybody out there it's a success," Ruda said. "That's our philosophy. As long as we have even one student out there it's a success."

SGA is currently looking into bringing the Smith Agency back to have another movie night at the beginning of October.

If this idea doesn't work out, SGA would like to possibly show the movie at the Sequoyah Cinema, located on Fleming Street.

At that movie night they plan to show the movie "Rudy".

This event will be held prior to SGA bringing in Rudy Ruetigger to speak to the students.

Ruda hopes that better advertising for the next movie night will help to draw more students to the event.
