"It's a different form of acting," Ginger Creel, who is performing "Saint Joan", by George Benard Shaw, said. "I like it." Creel performed in last spring's reader's theatre rendition of "The Adding Machine" by William S. Burroughs, and said she looks forward to the new production.
"Love, War and Other Signs of Life on Earth" is a compilation of many materials, based in three categories, works pertaining to love, war and other important events. It will be introduced by three student-written pieces on the nature and purpose of reader's theatre, and include such works as "The Diaries of Adam and Eve" by Mark Twain and "Anthony and Cleopatra" by Shakespeare. These represent the many ways love influences our lives, while selections like "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" by James Thurber and "The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner" by Randal Jerrell show the impact of war. Others like Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie" and "A Streetcar Named Desire" will also be presented.
"I picked these pieces because they fit the theme." Thorson said. "Others are selections that I have wanted to do for many years."
"We want the audience to be involved," Thorson said.
