The GCCC meats judging team is greeting the holidays with ham. The team is hosting a ham sale to support judging activities for the 2002–03 season.

"We want to try and raise between $3,000 to $4,000 to support our judging team travel expenses," Clint Alexander, meats judging team coach, said. "We estimate that for every 100 hams we sell, we make around $600 to $700.

Hams are available in a boneless mini round-pit ham or a bone-in ham, which is whole. The mini ham is priced at $25 and weighs between six to eight pounds. The whole ham cost $35 and weighs between 18 to 24 pounds.

"This is the first year for the sale here at GCCC," Alexander said. "This is the best way for us to be able to travel and be competitive with other teams."

The hams are being sold for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Orders for Thanksgiving must be placed by Wednesday, Nov. 6. Hams for Thanksgiving may be picked up after Nov. 18, or they can be delivered.

Christmas hams must be ordered by Tuesday, Dec. 3. Hams for Christmas may be picked up or delivered by Dec. 9. Hams can be picked up from the Ag Department Rooms 204 and 206 in the John Collins Vocational Building.
