Lady Busters victorious in Wendy's Classic

As the basketball season wears on, the Lady Busters endured two tournaments at home. These were the Pepsi Classic, Nov. 15-16, and the Wendy's Classic, Nov. 7-9.
In the first game of the Pepsi Classic, Nov. 15, the women competed against the North Dakota State College of Science. At halftime, the Busters were ahead 46-26. By the end of the game, the Lady Busters defeated the Lady Wildcats 84-57.
Chareka Terry, Plano, Texas, scored 28 points in the game. Jasmine Irving, San Antonio, racked up a total of 16 points. Angie Faurot, Cimarron, scored 12 points.
The Busters competed against Odessa, Texas, Nov. 16. The ladies were defeated in overtime by Odessa 87-95.
In the second game of the Pepsi Classic, Nov. 16, the Lady Busters competed against Odessa College. In the first half, the Busters were ahead of the Wranglers 39-32. In the second half, the Wranglers tied the game up by scoring 43 points while the Busters only scored 36. Odessa ended up winning the game by scoring 20 points in overtime, while the Busters scored 12. Odessa won with a score of 95-87.
Irving led the Busters in points, racking up 22. Terry scored 18 points for the Lady Busters. Laura Banda, Holcomb, scored 12 points during the game.
"I was very disappointed in the way we played Saturday night," Bobby Brasel, head coach, said.
Despite being defeated in the Pepsi Classic, the Lady Busters were victorious in the Wendy's Classic, Nov. 7-9.
In the first game, the Busters competed against Neosho. In the first half, the women were ahead of Neosho 42-19. In the second half Neosho scored 38 points, while the Busters scored 43 points. The Busters still defeated Neosho with a score of 57-85.
Terry scored the most points, with a total of 22. Faurot scored 17 points in the game and Candace Salas, Rocky Ford, Colo., scored 16.
The next game the Lady Busters played was against Ranger, Nov. 9. In the first half, the Busters led Ranger 17-38. In the second half the women scored 43 points, while Ranger scored 33. The Busters won the game 81-50.
Terry scored 19 points in the game. Faurot scored 16 points and Irving scored 13 points.
The last day of the tournament, the Lady Busters competed against Frank Phillips. In the first half, the ladies were ahead 38-27. In the second half, Frank Phillips scored 23 points, but the Lady Busters scored 33 points. The game ended with GCCC ahead, 71-50.
Irving led the Busters, scoring 19 points. Salas also scored well for the Busters, with a total of 14 points.
"I was impressed with the performances of Candace, Jasmine, and Angie [during the Wendy's Classic," Brasel said.
The next tournament for the Lady Busters will be the Seward County Classic, Nov. 22-23.
