Americans all over the country are beginning to buy less French products. The boycott has been brought on by France's resistance to allow an American strike on Iraq. The French economy has too much to lose as a result of a war with Iraq, so they will not grant us their blessing to hit Iraq.

This has caused many Americans hard feelings toward the French government. Many American businesses have stopped orders of French products. Liquor stores, for instance, have quit selling French wine to show their perspective of the French resolution.

In certain restaurants, french fries have been renamed freedom fries, which makes me wonder if some establishments will change the name of the hamburger to liberty, sandwich, since the Germans have followed France's lead. The hamburger was created in Hamburg, Germany.

Many Americans have canceled vacations planned in France to other places such as Spain, seeing how Spain is backing up the United States and Britain. One man changed his trip from Paris to Barcelona, thus showing his support for our allies who believe in the cause President Bush is fighting for.

Do I believe this boycott is a good idea? Yes. I personally believe that this will send a message to the French. We as Americans have always back up the French and now when we need them they won't back us up. Have the French forgotten the blood we spilled defending them in World War I and II?

The manner in which the French are handling this is an atrocity. It is a shame that we must wait patiently for the consent of a cowardly nation worried solely about themselves instead of the rest of the world. Why is it that France thinks the inspectors will show that Iraq is not a threat? Iraq has had years to hide their weapons of mass destruction in the desert.

I was watching television the other night when a small bit showed what Dennis Miller thought of the French. He held up a map of France and said, "You guys may as well fill up the dingy and go fishing because you are dead to me," I love that statement.
