SGA honors teachers with appreciation day

Today a teacher appreciation day will mark what SGA freshman treasurer Hieu Doan says she hopes will become a tradition at Garden City Community College.
Doan is the organizer of a teacher appreciation event, which will take place May 8,
1-4 p.m. in the library lobby.
"I believe it is a worthwhile event that we should continue in the future," Doan said, "because we should let the teachers know that we are always thankful and appreciate them."
The event will consist of an ice cream social and recognition of teachers, including a slide show presentation and prize drawings.
Doan said the event is meant to honor teachers and acknowledge all the hard work they put into their jobs. According to Doan, each lesson and lecture provides students with invaluable knowledge that will prove to be a wonderful gift in the real world.
This event provides students with an opportunity to show their gratitude, Doan said.
"I think it's important because it's a time for each student to show their appreciation and to let the teachers know that we do care and they are appreciated for what they have done in our lives," Doan said.
