Beau Tatro, intramural coordinator, has been posting his intramural events on bulletin boards around campus, but only six people have shown up to the first three events. He had a horseshoe and bocce tournament Oct. 19 and had only two people show up for each event.
Brett Briggs, Holcomb, won the horseshoe tournament and Cory Smith, Sublette, won the bocce tournament. They each received a free T-shirt for winning the events.
"I guess what I need to do is have [intramurals] written up on the chalk board in the student union," Tatro said, "I don't know of any other way to get this news out, I have signs posted all over campus."
Only two people competed in the Yahtzee tournament Oct. 29.
"Yahtzee isn't my forte," Carson Shotton, Sublette, said. "But the people who were playing looked like they were enjoying it."
Cory Smith won the Yahtzee tournament in a tie-breaker, he is now 3-0 in intramural sports.
Tatro has bigger contests in store for students in the next few weeks. On Nov. 16 there will be a three-point contest and free-throw contest. Nov. 19 there will be a 'H-O-R-S-E' contest in the gym.
"I expect that about 25 people will show up to these events," Tatro said.
Tatro will host a co-ed volleyball tournament Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.
"It's the Saturday before finals," Tatro said, "It will be a co-ed tournament over at the gym and will begin at 2 p.m. The format of the tournament will depend on how many teams join but I expect at least eight teams."
Tatro says that normally he gets a good turnout for his intramural events, especially for the basketball games. Those won't happen until spring.
"These games are for the students," Tatro said, "We'd like to have as many students show up as we can."
