SGA elections took place last Thursday in the midst of the Earth Day activities, with a satisfactory turnout.
"We had 328 people [vote], which was up from last year," Ryan Ruda, SGA adviser, said. "The top two positions were close."
The winners of the elections were Chris Corbett, executive president, Katie Stein, vice president, Dalia Deloera, secretary; Ben Lamb, treasurer, and Dionicio Rivera, public relations.
Colin Lamb, SGA adviser, said he thinks SGA will be strong next year since several members have participated in SGA in the past.
"Katie Stein, Dalia Deloera, and Ben Lamb have had experience," Lamb said. "Chris [Corbett] came in to several meetings to get experience and see how the meetings went. He took his own initiative."
Ruda said he thinks SGA has a good start for next year.
"I think we have a good core group of students [in SGA], " Ruda said, "It will depend on seeing what Chris's [Corbett] focus is."
Ruda has certain issue's he hopes SGA addresses next year.
"I hope we can finalize the smoking policy and get that out there," Ruda said, "We have the landscaping project, we'll see where the year takes us."
Lamb said he wants SGA to improve campus-wide communication next year.
"One thing we hope for every year is for communication to improve with SGA on campus," Lamb said.
