Midway through conference play, the Busters are just behind Dodge City, who sits atop the Jayhawk Conference standings. The Busters have four wins, two losses and one tie-the result of their match-up against the Conqs Aug. 27.

Last night, Barton County defeated the Busters 3-1. Barton, who had a 4-0 overall record and 1-0 in the conference going into the game, is currently under NJCAA probation for bylaw infractions and therefore not eligible for post-season play, which includes regional and national tournaments. The women's game ended in a tie 2-2.

Busters vs. Allen County | Sept. 10

Even mother nature couldn't detour the Busters' 2-0 win over Allen County. After a 30-minute weather delay with 5:21 left in the first half, the teams went to the locker room scoreless. The Busters charged into the second half after making personnel changes.

"In this game we changed the personnel around a bit, and we were more organized," Huffman said. "There is really not a particular person who initially steps up and gets in one another's face, they just play it game by game."

Bryan Arruda, Ontario, Canada, went after a loose ball and scored four minutes into the second half. Javier Jimenez, Albuquerque, N.M., got the ball and passed it to Jeremy Mallak, Albuquerque, N,M., with just 10 minutes remaining in the game.

"This team was definitely a tougher team than Hesston," Huffman said.

Luis Posada was off the injury list after missing two games; however, Huffman said he was still only about 85 percent.

GCCC vs. Hesston | Sept. 6

It was a loss for the Garden City Broncbusters soccer team who played Hesston on Wed. Sept. 6 at

Memorial Stadium. The score had been 2-1. The only score of the night for the Busters was by Bryan Arruda, Ontario, Canada, who had been assisted by Jeremy Mallak, Albuquerque, N.M. This shot had reached the back of the net for a goal when Arruda smashed it in with the top of his head.

The Busters were able to hold the lead for about 4:55 and then Nolan Miller from Hesston makes a shot with the clock being 40:13 which ties up the game of 1-1. Coach Jeff Huffman for Garden City said, "Nothing seemed to go right."
