Forensics, debate place as second

The debate and forensics team competed in their first tournament in Pioneer Trails Classic at Casper College in Casper, Wyo., Oct. 14-15. Overall GCCC finished 7th and placed as the second highest community college.

"In practice Mark Jarmer makes sure for us as a team we make good quality arguments," Moorman said. "You never know what will sway the judges, but it is important not to give them an excuse to drop you with a poor argument.

Staats said she is looking forward to this year because she and her partner are starting to excel as a team.

"I'm psyched. Aleana Phillips and I struggled last year," Staats said. "Now we are starting to figure out what works and develop our own style."

Forensics and debate will be competing the first weekend of Nov. 4 at Shreveport, La. for the Red River Swing hosted by LSUS and LA Tech.
