Ben Lamb, Garden City, and Stefan Diedrich, Bitburg, Germany, make phone calls for scholarship pledges and gifts Wednesday, Oct. 11. Approximately 11 campus clubs and organizations volunteered at the 27th annual Endowment Association Phonathon.

Over a span of eight nights, approximately 170 volunteers used 22 phones to place 1,500 calls which raised money for scholarships. The 27th annual Endowment Association Phonathon ended Thursday, Oct. 12 with contributors and volunteer callers raising a total of $75,899 for academic and technical scholarships to assist GCCC students. The final tally beat last year's total of $75,057 and surpassed the $70,000 goal by $5,899.

"We're obviously glad about the outcome of the phonathon," Shea Sinclair, Endowment Association executive director, said. "The best part is that the funds will help so many determined and deserving students get an education."

Faculty, staff, campus clubs, and organizations engaged in the effort to collect a total of $57,608 in gifts and pledges from friends and alumni of the college, supplemented by $18,291 that arrived in direct mail pledges before and during the calling period.

A victory celebration for all volunteers will be Friday, Oct. 20 from 12:30-1:30 p.m in the portico of the Beth Tedrow Student Center. Everyone who volunteered will be entered in a drawing to win a trip for two to Colorado Springs, Colo., which was donated by the Western Kansas Broadcast Center. Other prizes include a flat screen TV, gas cards, and an iPod, donated by the Endowment Association.
