Rock Dennis (16), Leavenworth, Kan., knocks down a pass attempt to an Air Force Prep receiver. Dennis had 8 tackles and returned an interception for 35 yards in the 29-6 Buster victory over the Huskies Oct. 14.

After struggling in their road victories over Highland and Independence, the Busters turned the ball over only once and held a young Air Force Prep team to 110 yards on the way to a 29-6 victory at Memorial Stadium Saturday night.

"There were definitely bright spots in the game and areas where we've continued to improve," Head coach J.J. Eckert said.

The Buster defense sacked Air Force Prep quarterbacks five times for a loss of 35 yards and forced two fumbles. Ronald Neloms, Quitman, Ga., and Derrick Raymer, Goodland, Kan., led the team in tackles with 12 apiece. Rock Dennis, Leavenworth, Kan., added a 35-yard interception return.

"The guys showed up in regards to defense," Eckert said. "They went out there and did what they had to do."

The Busters struck first with 10:53 left in the first quarter when Sean Setzer, Portland, Ore., threw a 24-yard pass to Adam Conway, Osborne, Kan. After the Huskies turned the ball over on downs, the Busters capitalized on their second possession when Setzer ran the ball in the end zone from two yards out, capping off a 20 play, 90-yard drive to extend the lead to 13-0 with 5:47 left in the quarter. Air Force Prep's only score of the game came with 11:34 left in the second quarter with Seth Armburst's one-yard run, the drive starting on Garden City's 40-yard line following a Setzer interception. The Busters scored once more before the half with a Setzer 4-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 20-6. The Busters held the Huskies scoreless in the second half and added a Conway 8-yard touchdown reception and a Raymer field goal to end the game in winning fashion, 29-6.

"We still in search of the perfect game, we all need to be in sync and continue to get better," Eckert said.

Setzer finished with 14 completions for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Conway had seven receptions for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Jeff Blanchard, West Palm Beach, Fla., ran the ball for 29 carries for 204 yards.
