The Lady Busters were swept in their final regular season match at the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex last night, falling to Seward County in a district match 15-30, 20-30, 28-30.

Seward County took control early, dominating the first two sets, but the Lady Busters fought back in the third set, tying up the score at 28-28 before the Lady Saints stole two points and the victory to win the match.

"We played well as a team," Shantellee Brown, Garden City, said. "We fought hard, we could've been better but I'm still proud of the girls."

The Lady Busters (12-15) head into the region tournament fifth in the Jayhawk Conference Western Division standings and last place in the NJCAA Division I. With last night's loss, the Lady Busters will face top-seeded Hutchinson on Tuesday.

Head coach Nikola Petrovic says the team has done really well at the end of the season and is prepared for the region tournament.

"We've met our goal to pick up our game at the end of the season," Petrovic said. "Overall, we're healthy, the chemistry is good, we've been stepping up and working hard."

Brown and Keahilani Kaleo, Colorado Springs, Colo., were honored with plaques and flowers before last night's game as part of Sophomore Night, held on the last home game of the season. Brown said she was happy her parents were able to be a part of the night.

"It was so good to see them, I didn't know if they would make it or not because of work," Brown said. "It made me happy."

Kaleo, a 2nd team all-conference and 2nd team all-region libero selection, says the team put forth a lot of effort on a memorable Sophomore Night.

"It's emotional, we put feelings all into it [the game]," Kaleo said.
