Buster comeback falls short
Busters take 3-3 record on the road, face McPherson College JV tonight

Lamar jumped out to a quick 10-point lead within the first five minutes of the game off a couple of 3-pointers. The Busters never gave up as they kept up the defensive pressure and rebounding. The Busters closed the gap to eight by halftime as they trailed 27-35.
"I feel like I didn't even come to play in the first half, but I played good in the second half," Sammie Fisher, Wichita, Kan., said.
The Busters turned up the defense in the second half and closed the gap to 68-71 with less than four minutes remaining in the game. After a good defensive stand and a Lamar missed shot, the Busters took the ball down the court and scored two more points, bringing the Busters within one. After solid defensive play the Busters took the lead 72-71, but could not hold on as Lamar scored the games final five points and capturing the 76-72 victory.
The Busters (3-3) had four players score in double figures, led by Yima Chia-Kur, Mansfield, Ohio, and Julian Allen, Waterbury, Conn., each with 15. Dale Saunders, Waterbury, Conn., chipped in with 14 and Tyrone Flemming, Waterbury, Conn., 11. Allen and Flemming also led the team in rebounds with eight apiece.
"It's early in the season, so we can get better," Head coach Kris Baumann said. "Jayhawk Conference play is when we want to get better."
The Busters are on the road tonight at McPherson, taking on McPherson College JV. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
GCCC Pepsi Classic Nov. 9-11
The Busters kicked off their season at home Nov.9, in the annual Pepsi Classic against Labette County. Garden City dominated the first half of the game with a couple of Chia-Kur dunks and some outside shooting from Fisher, Wichita, Kan., helping out. The Busters went into the half leading 29-26.
