Tis the season to be giving and clubs around campus are doing just that. Whether it is giving gifts to soldiers overseas or helping local families enjoy the holidays , the students and sponsors are thinking of others this December.

"I decided to help with activities because people are so busy with work and the groups that I am in just want to bring back the old spirit," Jackie Cojon, Garden City, said.

HALO provided gifts and services to various causes this holiday season. HALO members filled stockings to send to soldiers in Iraq and served as bell ringers for the Salvation Army.

"The students were so excited this year to help others," Manuela Vigil, HALO sponsor, said. "At our last meeting they [HALO board members] had so many ideas and they really want to get involved."

College employees are also getting into the spirit and donating items for students as part of the Buster Holiday Bazaar, Dec. 7 and 8 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

"It is a big garage sale for the students, without the money, everything is free," Dana Nanninga, SSS adviser and counselor, said. "We just want to help students during this holiday."

Donated items can be taken to the SCSC conference room (the old Admissions offices). Leftover items will go to the Salvation Army.

The Science and Math club and clubs in the Academic building sponsored Angel Trees. The trees are filled with names of needy children. Anyone can pick one and buy gifts for that child.

The trees are located in the office area in the Science and Math and the Academic building. Items will be picked up Dec. 8.

Phi Theta Kappa hosted a coat donation.

"The club donated over 50 coats Wednesday," Shelia Hendershot, Phi Theta Kappa sponsor, said. "We are also asking students to not throw away their used textbooks. We are donating them to an organization called 'Better World Books' who will distribute them to those in need."

Tau Epsilon Lamda set up a tree at their'adopted' grade school, Garfield Elementary School.

"The club has been doing this holiday activity for approximately 15 years now, and now it's gotten even bigger and Big Brothers Big Sisters has gotten involved in our project too," Linda Morgan, TEL sponsor, said.
