Jayhawk Shootout, Coffeyville, Dec. 1-2

Dec. 1: Allen County Red Devils 82 - Busters 52

The Red Devils jumped out to a 34-23 lead by halftime and coasted to the win in the opening game of the Jayhawk Shootout.

Their offense in the second half scorched the Busters' defense with 48 points and the Busters' offense was held to 29 points.

As a team, the Busters shot 20 of 58 from the floor and only connected on 7 of 26 3-point shots.

Sammie Fisher, Wichita, Kan., led the Busters with 12 points and Tyrone Flemming, Waterbury, Conn., finished with 10 and led the team with 7 rebounds.

The Busters were out-rebounded 34-32.

Dec. 2: Highland Scotties 49 - Busters 61

The Busters used an 11-0 run to take a 27-15 lead, but Highland answered with a run of their own to cut the lead to four by halftime.

"I felt the team responded pretty good. It's always hard to come back from a 30-point loss," Flemming said.

After extending the lead back to double digits in the second half, Highland hit back-to-back three's, cutting the lead to 50-46 with six minutes left in the game.

The Busters' defense only allowed three more points the rest of the way as they outscored Highland 11-3 in the final six minutes.

"It wasn't our best basketball this weekend," Jon Trilli, Garden City, said. "We had a lot of distractions on the way up especially the weather."
