Dean of learning services acquires doctorate

Tatro, who has served in his present position since 2001, earned his doctorate of philosophy in education and human resource studies this month from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
Tatro completed his Ph.D. in CSU's Community College Leadership Program with successful defense of his dissertation on Dec. 14. The dissertation was entitled "The Organizational Culture of a Comprehensive Community College Engaged in Continuous Quality Improvement."
Tatro handles responsibilities at GCCC including strategic planning, budgeting, staffing and evaluation to faculty development, course scheduling, instructional evaluation and assessment of student outcomes.
He also supervises the Technical Education Division and Continuing Education and Community Services Division, as well as general education and learning resources programs. He has worked toward his doctorate while maintaining all his administrative responsibilities.
Tatro serves as a co-adviser for the Phi Theta Kappa academic honor society chapter, had a Faculty Senate position while working as an instructor and has worked in six other major committee or leadership positions.
