The first disbursement of financial aid for Spring 2007 will be available to students beginning Feb. 21.

Students whose classes began Jan. 10, and whose financial aid exceeds their charges, can pick up their refund check on Feb. 21. Students enrolled in EduKan, online, 2nd 8-week or open-entry/open-exit courses can pick up financial aid at a later date, depending on when those classes begin.

Students with loans must first go to the financial aid office, located on the west side of the Student and Community Services Building's first floor, to sign a loan authorization slip. After that, students can negotiate their loan check at the business office in the Administration Building. Students receiving scholarships and grants can go directly to the Business Office.

All financial aid is first applied to any charges in the student's account. Refund checks are issued to students whose financial aid exceeds their account balance.

Financial aid disbursement will be daily for approximately two weeks. After the two-week period, disbursement will be Tuesdays and Fridays after 3 p.m.

Once disbursement has slowed down, students who have not yet picked up checks can do so on Fridays after 3 p.m.

Kathy Blau, director of financial aid, said students who haven't completed their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form for 2006-2007 can still apply for financial aid, as long as they are enrolled in classes. Blau says it's important for students to look ahead and complete the FAFSA form for 2007-2008.
